As a leader in the global HVAC industry, Carrier has played an important leading role in the process of making HVAC&R industry attach more importance to environmental protection.

Non-ozone depleting Refrigerants Promotion

In 2002, as one of the leading manufacturers in the HVAC industry, Carrier co-organized with several China HVAC trade associations in hosting a series of seminars on non-ozone depleting refrigerant in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou to share our experience and strength in the leading green technologies and to promote no-ozone depleting refrigerants in China's HVAC industry. Moreover, specialists of ASHRAE were invited at the seminars to voice their ideas in the application of green refrigerants.

China Ozone Protection Award

In cooperation with the State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA), Carrier initiated an annual ozone protection award program in 2003 to recognize those individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to ozone layer protection in China.

Up to now, a total of 21 individuals and organizations have been granted the Award. Carrier China Operations, the sponsor of the award, won the Initiation Award at the First China Ozone Protection Award in 2003.

Carrier has a long-term commitment in support of the SEPA Awards and has sponsored the Awards for three years consecutively.

Green Building Technologies Promotion

Over the last two years, Carrier have worked with various ministries and trade associations to launch a series of seminars in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Xi’an on green building technology and to share our achievements in Refrigerant, Indoor Air quality and Efficiency, which comes as the major factors of a green building.

Carrier has been working with the Ministry of Construction in the planning of a China Intelligent and Green Building Council to share our expertise and to help the China market define green building standards. Carrier hopes to be an active member of the new council.

In 2004, Carrier provided the air conditioning solutions for the State Science and Technology Building which has been awarded Green Building and LEED certification.

In 2005, Carrier joined its parent company UTC to be the top sponsor of the First International Intelligent and Green Building Technologies and Products Conference & Expo in Beijing, in an effort to demonstrate its long-term commitment to green building product and technology.

In 2006, Carrier joined its parent company UTC to top sponsor the 2nd International Conference on Intelligent Green and Energy Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo, realized its long-term commitment in promoting green building concept and technologies in China.

In 2007, Carrier joined its parent company UTC to top sponsor the 3rd International Conference on Intelligent Green and Energy Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo, to further strengthen its long-term commitment in promoting green building concept and technologies in China.
